FINAL INTERVENTION
The final intervention followed much of the same principles as early explored in the above chipboard model. The program was then rethought to accommodate political reform. It serves as a launching pad for ideas of social change. The inhabitant would begin at the eastern edge of the land site and move across to the opposite coast in order to carry out his/her duties. The buoyant chamber moves up and down with the tides and once sunken allows a long period of meditation and contemplation between one or more people. This space serves as a spot for radical thinking. The bridge itself is built using steel. The cover which runs along the top is made using a flexible plastic which is cross-braced with brass rods in order to span the appropriate distance. This cover is intended to protect against sun and rain as the inhabitants make their journey. Behind the bridge is an attached foot path or pedestrian walkway which allows transportation across the river in case the tides are low and not able to fill the bridge in order to move the vessel across. The cantilevered platform is cast from ultra cal and the buoyant chamber and transporting vessel are made out of translucent and transparent plexiglass.
