INTERSECTION OF TWO INTERSECTIONS

The next phase of the project involved combining two wooden intersection models. I intersected the 860/880 inspired joint with one modeled after the Promontory Apartment Building in Chicago. This phase of the project was rigorously adjusted and readjusted in collaboration with my design partner Janice Chu. The project was first explored using the joints to create a site at 1” = 1’ and then rethought at ½” = 1’. The joints were moved along all axes to intersect and overlap each other in order to create possibilities for inhabitation. The following seven drawings are represented at 1” = 1’ and are painted using a combination of loose graphite powder and acrylic medium.
